Children and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center Receives Seoul Mayor's Award for Merit

Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) Children and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center was recognized for its excellence in improving eating habits by receiving the Seoul Metropolitan Mayor’s Award of Merit at the ‘2024 Food Life Education Project Performance Sharing Meeting’.

This award was given to seven organizations that contributed to the safety and health promotion of food habits in children and social welfare meal centers. Among them, the Jungnang-gu Children and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center was recognized for its significant contribution to improving the meal environment by supporting meal centers for children with less than 100 children and without a nutritionist.

Since its opening as the Children’s Meal Management Support Center in September 2019, the center has continuously expanded its activities, and in 2024, it will include small-scale social welfare meal centers in its support target, and begin integrated operations encompassing children and social welfare facilities. In addition, it has participated in local festivals such as the Jungnang Seoul Rose Festival, conducted nutritional counseling and experiential activities, and helped residents form proper eating habits. It has also contributed to establishing a healthy eating habit for local residents through customized education programs for each target group, and such efforts have been highly evaluated in the region.

Ryu Gyeong-gi, the head of Jungnang-gu, said, “We will continue to promote various support projects that provide practical help to children and social welfare meal centers,” and “We will work harder to create a safe and healthy eating environment for residents.” The center plans to continue to carry out various activities to improve the hygiene and nutritional management levels of meal centers and support the healthy growth of children.
