Goyang Special City has achieved successive external achievements in the healing agriculture sector by winning an award of excellence at the 20th Central Competition for Living Horticulture and Healing Agriculture. This award is a recognition of Goyang City’s policies and efforts aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens and realizing social value through healing agriculture.

Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) won an award of excellence at the 20th Central Competition of Living Horticulture and Healing Agriculture hosted by the Rural Development Administration. This competition was held to raise awareness of healing agriculture among the public by purifying the emotions of the people, improving the quality of life, and discovering excellent cases of healing agriculture.
This award follows Goyang City’s receipt of the Gyeonggi Province Excellence Award in the agricultural resources sector (healing agriculture) in the rural development project evaluation in February, and has served as an opportunity for Goyang City’s healing agriculture activities to be recognized nationwide once again.
Goyang City has selected ‘realizing social value through healing agriculture’ as the pledge of the 8th local government and has been promoting various policies and programs to revitalize urban agriculture. In particular, the healing agriculture program has been highly evaluated for providing positive effects to citizens, such as stress relief, psychological stability, and physical health.
In addition, Goyang City has collected data that scientifically proves the effectiveness of therapeutic agriculture through collaboration with medical institutions, and based on this, has achieved academic and practical results in therapeutic agriculture, such as winning the grand prize at domestic and international academic conferences.
With this award, Goyang City plans to continue to develop the healing agriculture sector with the goal of improving the health and quality of life of its citizens. A city official said, “These consecutive awards are a result of Goyang City’s various activities and efforts in the healing agriculture sector being recognized,” and “We will continue to do our best to provide citizens with a better life and create a healthy society through healing agriculture.”
Goyang City plans to expand programs and environments where citizens can find psychological stability by interacting with nature through the promotion of urban agriculture and therapeutic agriculture.
