Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) is promoting environmental improvement projects for 277 urban parks in the Ilsan area and is making various efforts to ensure that citizens can use the parks safely and comfortably. Mayor Lee Dong-hwan said, “We will continue to improve the environment and maintain the parks so that they can become healing resting places for citizens.”
This year, Goyang City redeveloped the reservoirs of Modang Park and Hansan Park into waterside parks. Modang Park’s reservoir was previously inaccessible, but this small park environment improvement project created a new walking path and transformed it into a waterside park. Hansan Park demolished the old deck walking path and installed a new deck along the reservoir to improve the convenience of using the park.
We also spurred efforts to create an environment for barefoot walking. We created additional barefoot walking paths in four parks: ▲Ankok Wetland and Sogeul Park in Jungsan-dong (1,800m), ▲Seongjeo Park in Daehwa-dong (800m), ▲Hanmoe Park in Ilsandong (120m), and ▲Tanhyeon Park in Tanhyeon-dong (200m), and installed convenience facilities such as foot washing areas and shoe racks. In particular, Tanhyeon Park created a yellow clay experience center to provide citizens with a unique health experience space.
Aging children’s park facilities are also being renovated sequentially. This year, three places, including Dakbat Children’s Park in Jeongbalsan-dong, Haneulbyeolmuri Children’s Park in Jungsan-dong, and Sootgogae Hyangnamu Children’s Park in Tanhyeon-dong, have completed the replacement of play facilities and floor paving work. Additional parks, including Baekseok-dong Gani Children’s Park and Tanhyeon-dong Hyeonjung Children’s Park, are scheduled to be renovated next year.
The sports park and restrooms in the park have also been greatly improved. The park golf course in Jungsan Sports Park has been completely renovated by removing tree roots and replanting grass, and fences have been replaced and tree trimming work has also been done. The restrooms in Hanmoe Park have been renovated to meet BF (barrier-free living environment) standards, including replacing toilets and tiles. The remodeling work at Tanhyeon Park is also scheduled to be completed within this year.
Park maintenance and management projects are also being carried out in parallel. This year, the city carried out green space management, pest control, and tree pruning work on 132 urban parks in the Ilsan area. A city official said, “We will continue to do our best to improve the quality of parks and increase convenience for citizens.”
