Incheon Jung-gu holds parent meeting for 'Yeongjong International City Education Development'

Jung-gu, Incheon Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Jeong-heon) announced that it held the ‘2nd Yeongjong International City Parents’ Meeting in 2024′ at the 2nd building on December 12, creating a venue for communication for the development of local education.

This meeting was held to share the results of the handling of the suggestions raised at the first meeting held in June and to strengthen the public-private cooperation system. The meeting was attended by about 50 parents of elementary, middle, and high school students in Yeongjong International City, including Mayor Kim Jeong-heon.

The event was held in the following order: ▲Report on the results of handling suggestions in the first half of the year ▲Explanation of Jung-gu education support projects ▲Introduction of the lifelong learning center operation plan ▲Listening to suggestions. In particular, there was an active exchange of opinions regarding ways to strengthen students’ future capabilities by utilizing the ‘Lifelong Learning Center’ scheduled to open in the first half of next year.

The ‘Lifelong Learning Center’ is currently being built on the site of Incheon Sky Middle School in Unnam-dong, Yeongjong, and is scheduled to open in April 2025. The learning center is expected to serve as a new lifelong education space for local residents and students, supporting the cultivation of humanities knowledge and cultural life.

A parent who attended the meeting said, “The lecture hosted by the district was a great help in developing humanities knowledge,” and “I hope that the lifelong learning center will be operated as a cultural space that residents can comfortably approach.”

Mayor Kim Jeong-heon said, “We will create a lifelong learning center so that local residents and students can easily enjoy cultural activities in their daily lives,” and added, “We will continue to listen to opinions from the field and reflect them in our policies to improve the educational environment and develop local education.”

Additionally, Mayor Kim mentioned the 47th Traffic Safety Campaign held at Sky Middle School on the 5th and emphasized continuous efforts for student safety and educational development.

This meeting served as a venue to strengthen communication with parents and discuss various ideas for the development of local education, contributing greatly to improving the educational environment and strengthening cooperation.
