Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Gil-seong Kim) has secured approximately 33.7 billion won in funding by being selected for 52 public offering projects hosted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in 2024. In addition, the efforts to make Jung-gu, always on my side, a reliable place, have been proven through the 35 awards it has received.

Jung-gu, Seoul has achieved results in various fields in 2024, laying the foundation for improving residents’ lives and strengthening urban competitiveness.
◆ Urban and environmental sectors
Jung-gu secured a budget of approximately 28.6 billion won for improving the urban landscape and residential environment. In particular, it was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s *’New: Village Pilot Project’*, securing up to 23.8 billion won out of the total project cost of 25.4 billion won as external funds, and secured an additional 200 million won in consulting fees by being selected as a candidate site for ‘Human Town 2.0’.
In addition, through the ‘Green New Deal Underground Project’ and ‘Urban Landscape Project’ contests, we have spurred environmental improvement in the areas around Myeongdong Square and Heungin Elementary School. We have secured incentives worth approximately 780 million won by being selected as the best autonomous district for four consecutive years for our waste reduction performance.
◆ Jobs and Economy
Jung-gu participated in various public contests to revitalize traditional markets and alleyway businesses, securing a budget of about 500 million won. *As the ‘Urban Manufacturing Work Environment Improvement Support Project’*, it supported the improvement of the work environment of 185 manufacturing companies, and actively supported employment and startups through the ‘Youth Growth Project’, ‘Restaurant Startup Incubation’, and ‘Senior Job Creation Project’.
◆ Welfare and health management sector
Jung-gu has made every effort to promote the health of its residents and strengthen welfare policies. It has secured a budget of about 150 million won for ‘Health Management Mileage’ and ‘Dementia Prevention Smart Care Program’, and has recorded excellent results in the evaluation of metabolic syndrome management projects.
In the childcare and education sector, it secured about 2 billion won through 8 projects including the ‘Seoul-type Kids Cafe’ and ‘Neulbom School Operation Support’. In addition, it was recognized for its leading role in elderly welfare policy by receiving the ‘Excellent Organization for Contribution to Elderly Welfare’ award from the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
◆ Cultural Events
Jung-gu strengthened its cultural infrastructure by securing budgets for the ‘Myeongdong New Year’s Countdown’ and ‘Dasan Fortress Road Art and Culture Festival’, which are representative local festivals. In addition, it raised the level of cultural events by securing a budget of approximately 200 million won for the ‘2025 Jeongdong Night Walk’ through a public offering by the National Heritage Administration.
◆ Safety and disaster response field
Jung-gu also stood out in the safety field. It won an award of excellence at the *’Disaster Medical Education and Training Competition’* and was selected for the ‘AI CCTV-based high-speed search system’ construction project, securing about 200 million won. This system enables rapid location tracking in the event of a socially disadvantaged person going missing.
◆ Active administration and other fields
Jung-gu won the Minister of Public Administration and Security Award at the *’2024 Republic of Korea Knowledge Awards’* for its integrated administrative platform *’AI Naepyeonjung-gu’* utilizing AI technology. In addition, it won the grand prize in the citizen participation category of the ‘Korea Public Brand Awards’, receiving recognition for its policy achievements through cooperation with residents.
Jung-gu Mayor Kim Gil-seong said, “In 2024, Jung-gu secured financial resources through various public offerings and led real changes,” and added, “In the new year, we will carry out more meticulous administration to become ‘Jung-gu on my side’ that is by the side of residents wherever they are in their daily lives.”
