Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin Special City visited the construction site of Gyeongnam Earthville Decent in Yangji-myeon, Cheoin-gu, again on the 28th to inspect the progress of apartment defect repairs. On the 28th, Yongin Special City Mayor Lee Sang-il visited the Gyeongnam Earthville Decent construction site in Yangji-myeon, Cheoin-gu again to inspect the defects pointed out by prospective residents. This was the second visit since the first inspection on the 3rd, and Mayor Lee repeatedly emphasized that the defects must be thoroughly repaired to meet the expectations of prospective residents.

The market said to officials including Gyeongnam Enterprise CEO Lee Ki-dong and the prospective tenants’ council, “We plan to use the Gyeongnam Earthville Decent issue as an example for apartment construction in Yongin,” and “Shoddy apartment construction in Yongin will absolutely not be tolerated, and we will make sure that all construction companies recognize this through this case.”

In particular, he warned that if the defect repairs are insufficient, the city will not approve the use inspection, and requested Gyeongnam Enterprise to take active measures to restore the trust of prospective tenants. In response, CEO Lee Ki-dong promised, “I will communicate with prospective tenants and sincerely resolve the defect issues.”

In this on-site inspection, Mayor Lee Sang-il personally confirmed whether the underground parking lot water leak problem that was pointed out by prospective residents during the first visit had been improved. Gyeongnam Enterprise and the prospective residents’ council decided to discuss a plan to repair the defects based on the results of the safety inspection companies they each selected.

At a meeting held after the on-site inspection, the mayor said, “The expectations of the prospective residents to live happily in their new homes have been dashed,” and emphasized again, “Gyeongnam Enterprise must thoroughly repair the defects in order to regain the trust of the disappointed prospective residents. If they neglect this, the city will not approve the use inspection.”

Furthermore, the market stated, “This case should serve as an opportunity for construction companies trying to build apartments in Yongin to realize that they cannot even dream of poor construction,” and “Yongin City will continue to prioritize the safety of citizens and improvement of the living environment, and will establish a responsible construction culture among construction companies.”
