Incheon City’s Namdong-gu announced on the 27th that it had delivered a petition urging the speedy promotion of the 2nd Gyeongin Line construction project to the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport .
This signature campaign was carried out over two months from October to November with a goal of collecting 150,000 signatures , and ultimately 194,240 people participated in the signature campaign .
The signature campaign, which was jointly promoted with Yeonsu-gu to express the desire for an early start of construction of the 2nd Gyeongin Line, was carried out online and offline through the local administrative welfare center, each department , and district-affiliated organizations, as well as the website and SNS .

In addition , not only Namdong-gu, but also residents of other cities and provinces who work in the region or commute to and from the area participated in the signature campaign, adding meaning to it .
The 2nd Gyeongin Line is a metropolitan railway that starts at Cheonghak Station in Yeonsu- gu and connects Nonhyeon and Seochang in Namdong-gu to Seoul. It is a long-awaited local project that is absolutely necessary to resolve transportation inconveniences and improve living conditions for residents of the southern part of Incheon, who have been excluded from the metropolitan transportation network .

Although the related content was reflected in the 4th National Railway Network Construction Plan for 2021 , the project progress is being delayed due to the relocation of the Guro Depot and selection of a transit route .
Accordingly, the district has launched this signature campaign to urge the speedy promotion of the 2nd Gyeongin Line .
Namdong-gu District Mayor Park Jong-hyo said , “ I hope that the earnest wishes of local residents for an early start of construction on the 2nd Gyeongin Line were conveyed to the central government through the delivery of the petition ,” and added, “ We will continue to work hard to expedite the project in various ways . ”
