Yongin Special City Public Library Operates Winter Vacation Reading Experience Program

Yongin Special City announced on the 23rd that it will operate reading classes and various vacation special lecture programs for elementary school students at 17 public libraries in the region during the winter vacation. This program, which was planned to provide children with an opportunity to enjoy reading and develop creativity and thinking skills, will recruit participants starting on January 7th of next year.

Yongin Special City announced that it will operate reading classes and creative vacation special lecture programs for elementary school students at 17 public libraries in the region during the winter vacation. The programs are designed to teach children the joy of reading and to foster creativity and thinking skills.

The reading class will be held from January 20 to February 26 next year at 17 public libraries, including Pogok, Dongbaek, Mohyeon, Cheongdeok, Namsa, and Yangji Haemil, and will be operated as a customized program for lower and upper grades. It will help children naturally form reading habits through post-reading activities and discussions.

Additionally, each library runs special courses to promote creativity and thinking skills during the winter break.

Dongbaek Library will hold ‘Creative Math Board Game with Picture Books (1st to 2nd grade)’ and ‘Let’s Play Cube (3rd to 4th grade)’ to learn cube puzzles, and Mohyeon Library will hold ‘Make My Calligraphy & Make My Own Seal (3rd to 6th grade)’ to learn calligraphy and seal making.

Cheongdeok Library has prepared ‘Fun and Fun! Science Playground (1st to 3rd grade)’ to help children develop scientific thinking and ‘Let’s Play Economy (4th to 6th grade)’ to learn economic concepts, and Giheung Library operates ‘Eco-Friendly Architecture Story that Saves the Earth (1st to 3rd grade)’ to build eco-friendly buildings directly and ‘Greek and Roman Mythology that Gets More Fun the More You Know (4th to 6th grade)’ to foster problem-solving skills through Greek and Roman mythology.

In addition, Seonong Library has prepared ‘Soft Four Seasons Fairy Tale Clay (Elementary 1-3)’ which combines fairy tales and clay activities, Yeongdeok Library has ‘Unfold! Play Encyclopedia (Elementary 1-3)’ which helps develop senses through sensory play, and Sanghyeon Library has prepared ‘Exploring the Five Grand Palaces of Joseon (Elementary 1-2)’ which is based on the palaces of Joseon Dynasty and ‘Fun English Original Book Special Lecture’ which conducts English reading activities.

At Jukjeon Library, there will be a program called ‘I love the forest and stream in my neighborhood (elementary school 1-2)’ with a forest interpreter, and at Dongcheon Library, there will be a program called ‘Kids Art, Into Western Art (elementary school 3-6)’ where students can learn about representative works of Western art and create their own artwork.

Detailed information and application schedules for all programs can be found on each library’s homepage, and applications will begin on January 7th of next year.

Library officials said, “We hope that children will have a fruitful and enjoyable time at the library through reading and various experiences during the cold winter.”
