A vehicle crash at a market in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, left 13 people injured, one of whom is in critical condition.
The Yangcheon Police Department in Seoul announced that at around 3:50 PM on the 31st, a passenger car driven by a man in his 70s crashed into the Mokdong Kkaebi Market in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, injuring 13 people. Of the 13 injured, including merchants and pedestrians, 4 were found to have serious injuries and 9 to have minor injuries.
A police official said, “One of the injured (a man in his 40s) is in critical condition.” All of the injured were transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver is a man in his 70s, Mr. K, and the on-site investigation did not detect any signs of alcohol or drugs. Mr. K reportedly told the police that there was no sudden acceleration and that he was worried about the battery draining after leaving the car in the parking lot for a long time, so he pulled the car out. The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident, including the reason for the crash.
