After the 41st Geumsan County Governor Heo Chang -deok officially took office on January 2 , 2024 , his first schedule was to visit the patriotic martyrs . On this day, he visited the Chilbaek Memorial Tomb , Chungnyeongsa Shrine , and Yukbaekgoji Chunghontap together with Geumsan County Governor Park Beom-in, members of the Geumsan County Council , and local government officials to pay tribute to the spirit of sacrifice of the patriotic martyrs .
The Chilbaek Memorial was built to commemorate the 700 volunteer soldiers who fought in Geumsan during the Imjin War , and is a place with historical significance for Geumsan-gun . Governor Heo visited major pilgrimage sites, including this one, and reaffirmed his original intention for the development of his hometown .

Born in Geumseong-myeon, Geumsan-gun in 1967 , Deputy Governor Heo Chang-deok graduated from Geumsan High School and began his public service career in 1987. Since then , he has gained administrative experience by serving in key positions such as Director of the Tourism Promotion Division of the Culture , Sports and Tourism Bureau of South Chungcheong Province and Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau’s Welfare and Childcare Policy Division .
In particular , he has contributed to improving the quality of life of local residents by demonstrating his expertise in the fields of culture and welfare . This experience is expected to be of great help in realizing the various policies and visions that Geumsan County is pursuing .
Governor Heo said , “ I have special feelings about coming to my hometown of Geumsan as the governor ,” and added , “ I will do my best to realize the vision of ‘ Geumsan, the hometown of life , toward the world and the future ’ together with the people of the county . ”
He added that he would strive to ensure that Geumsan County’s key policies focus on achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life for its residents . Deputy County Governor Heo plans to focus on strengthening communication with residents and expanding the driving force for regional development .
The inauguration of Governor Heo, who has been promoting administration while respecting the history and tradition of Geumsan-gun, is expected to inject new vitality into the local community . He presented a sustainable development model in which Geumsan-gun’s nature , culture , and residents are in harmony , and pledged to create Geumsan’s future together with its residents .
