Jongno-gu (Mayor Jeong Moon-heon) announced that it received the highest grade, Grade A, for two consecutive years in the ‘2024 (2023 Performance) Self-Audit Activity Evaluation’ hosted by the Board of Audit and Inspection. This evaluation was conducted on a total of 677 organizations, including central administrative agencies, local governments, and public institutions.

The Board of Audit and Inspection evaluated the audit activities of each organization based on three criteria and 10 detailed items: ▲support for internal control across the organization, ▲composition and personnel level of the internal audit organization, and ▲performance of internal audit activities, and assigned four grades from A to D.

Jongno-gu received an A grade (2nd place) in the evaluation group that includes 33 autonomous districts nationwide with a population of less than 300,000. In particular, it proved its competitiveness by receiving high evaluations for its independence of its own audit organization, infrastructure improvement, and efforts to strengthen internal control.

Jongno-gu has been implementing various policies to strengthen internal control. Representative examples include ▲evaluation of integrity of senior civil servants ▲operation of anti-corruption and integrity promotion team ▲integrity ARS monitoring of corruption-vulnerable areas, etc., and is currently operating a systematic system.

Mayor Jeong Moon-heon said, “Achieving an A grade in the Board of Audit and Inspection’s internal audit activities for two consecutive years is the result of all employees’ efforts to operate the administration fairly and honestly,” and emphasized, “We will continue to create a trustworthy Jongno-gu through thorough internal control and transparent audit activities.”

Meanwhile, Jongno-gu has proven its excellence in clean administration by achieving a grade 2 in the ‘2024 Comprehensive Public Institution Integrity Evaluation’ hosted by the National Human Rights Commission of Korea, one level higher than last year.
