Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Ki-jae) announced that it will expand the scope of its ‘Free Brokerage Service for Low-Income Classes’, which supports real estate brokerage fees when signing a lease contract, from the previous 75 million won to contracts of 100 million won or less starting next year to help stabilize housing for the economically vulnerable.

The ‘Free Brokerage Service for Low-Income Classes’ is a project that provides up to 300,000 won in brokerage fees incurred when renting a house to vulnerable classes, and has been promoted through a business agreement with the Yangcheon-gu branch of the Korea Association of Certified Real Estate Brokers.
In particular, amid increasing economic difficulties for low-income earners due to the recent increase in real estate brokerage fees resulting from the increase in housing rents, the district has expanded the support target, which was limited to livelihood and medical aid recipients since last year, to “all basic livelihood recipients (housing, livelihood, medical, and education benefits),” and from next year, the upper limit of the support scope will be expanded to 100 million won or less to provide more generous support to the socially disadvantaged.
Accordingly, from now on, Yangcheon-gu residents receiving basic livelihood security can receive up to 300,000 won in brokerage fees when signing a housing lease contract of 100 million won or less. Residents who wish to receive support can apply at the local community center when reporting their move in by bringing ▲a copy of the lease contract ▲a receipt for brokerage fees ▲a certificate of beneficiary ▲a copy of bankbook ▲a copy of resident registration, etc.
The district has expanded the support target to all basic livelihood security recipients and actively provided free brokerage services by understanding the status of move-in reports, etc. As a result, it has supported a total of 254 households with 34 million won over the past three years, contributing greatly to housing stability. The district plans to provide individual guidance based on the status of basic livelihood security recipients’ move-in reports next year as well, ensuring that all recipients can benefit from brokerage fee support without exception.
Meanwhile, the district is promoting various real estate policies to create a stable living environment for residents. In addition to the ‘1-person household monthly rent peace of mind contract assistance service’ that provides free support for the entire real estate contract process for single-person households who are having difficulties with real estate contracts, such as those who are new to society or seniors living alone, the district is also promoting the ‘rent deposit return guarantee guarantee fee support’ project to prevent damages caused by non-return of the rental deposit in advance. In addition, the ‘rent damage support center’ is operated to support applications for rental fraud victim determination, damage fact investigation, and professional free legal consultation.
Yangcheon-gu Mayor Lee Ki-jae said, “Housing is the most basic and important element of life, so we will work to actively identify support recipients so that no beneficiaries are left out,” adding, “We will continue to work to establish detailed support measures so that residents can lead their daily lives in a stable residential environment.”
