This maintenance focused on removing safety threats as a top priority and improving inconveniences as the demand for various leisure activities by residents in rivers and parks within their living areas increased.

First, the ‘Anyangcheon Stream Ecological Park’, popular as a place to take a walk and feel nature in the city, has been renovated after completing the maintenance of old facilities. A total of 2,387㎡ of wooden deck tops that were aged or damaged by rainwater, etc., were replaced from existing synthetic wood to durable natural wood, and boundary trees were installed on the walking path and rest deck to improve the safety of pedestrians such as the disabled, children, and the elderly.

In addition, the wooden railings were lowered to blend in with the surrounding natural landscape, and about 6,600 shrubs and flowers suitable for river vegetation, such as water reeds and yellow-flowering irises, were planted in two deck shelters around the stream, allowing citizens using the Anyang Stream to enjoy the ecological environment and rest in nature nearby.

Meanwhile, the district installed ‘solar-powered LED safety signs’ in 50 locations throughout Anyangcheon to prevent safety accidents caused by encroaching on exclusive roads, high-speed bicycle riding, and unauthorized vehicle entry, and to resolve pedestrian inconvenience. The safety signs are of eight types: △Exclusive bicycle/pedestrian road △Bicycle speed limit △No vehicle entry △No passage during heavy rain △Caution against falling △Prohibitions in the river △Precautions in the river △Comprehensive Anyangcheon guide map, etc. They are charged using solar energy without a separate electricity supply and operate in an eco-friendly manner that automatically turns on at night.

In addition to this, the city replaced the old floor pavement and sidewalk blocks in the lower parking lot of Sinjeong Bridge, which has a public parking lot with a capacity of approximately 300 cars for users of Anyangcheon, to ensure that users do not experience any inconvenience with parking.

The district plans to continue to improve facilities, including reorganizing aging spaces in Anyangcheon and expanding convenience facilities.

Yangcheon-gu Mayor Lee Ki-jae said, “I expect that through this maintenance, residents will be able to stay in a safe waterfront space without any inconvenience and with peace of mind,” and added, “We will continue to thoroughly identify and continuously manage factors that threaten residents’ safety and cause inconvenience.”
