Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Ki-jae) announced that it will open and begin operation of the ‘Our Neighborhood Care Center Yangcheon Branch 7’ in Sinjeong 3-dong to resolve the gap in after-school care for elementary school students and reduce the burden of care for dual-income families.

The newly opened Yangcheon 7th branch is about 129㎡ (39 pyeong) in the community facility of the 3rd complex of Sinjeong Epenhouse (1st floor of building 314). The interior facilities are themed as ‘a space for play and rest’ and include ▲ a ‘multipurpose play area’ for active play ▲ a ‘static play area’ for programs such as reading ▲ a ‘rest area’ for children who are sick or need rest ▲ a ‘hygiene area’ with an indoor sink to make hand washing and other things a part of daily life ▲ a kitchen, etc.
The center fee is 50,000 won per month, including meals, snacks, and program fees, and temporary care is 2,500 won per day. The number of users is 25 children for regular care and 10 children for temporary care, and any elementary school student in the district can apply. Currently, pre-registration is underway on the ‘Our Neighborhood Care Portal’ website.
The operating hours are 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays during the semester and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during vacations. The center is staffed by a center director and caregivers, and offers one-stop customized care services, including special programs such as problem-based learning (PBL), art, physical education, and reading, as well as child counseling and meal and snack services.
Meanwhile, the district is operating a total of eight neighborhood KIUM centers, including seven district-run centers and one municipal center, starting with the ‘Our Neighborhood KIUM Center Yangcheon 1st Branch’ that opened in 2019 and the recently opened ‘Yangcheon 7th Branch’. In particular, it is promoting customized support tailored to various care needs through the operation of KIUM centers by type (general, integrated, and base type). The district plans to additionally create the ‘Yangcheon 8th Branch’ when the Yangcheon Childcare Town is completed in the second half of next year to implement seamless, community-centered care.
Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “With the opening of the 7th Our Neighborhood Care Center, we have further expanded the public care system where children can safely play and learn near their homes and schools.” He added, “We will continue to expand substantial care facilities at the community level to create Yangcheon-gu, a happy city where it is good to have and raise children.”
