Yeongdeungpo-gu announced on the 30th that it has prepared safety measures to prevent accidents at Seonyu Bridge, which is expected to be crowded with many people as the new year approaches. District head Choi Ho-kwon emphasized that he will make every effort to ensure that residents can enjoy the sunrise with peace of mind.
This year, in particular, the sunrise viewing area will be divided into zones, the number of visitors will be limited, and one-way traffic will be encouraged to reduce congestion. To this end, each zone will be distinguished by color, and bracelets of the corresponding color will be distributed in advance on site. This will help visitors view the area efficiently.

In addition, in cooperation with Yeongdeungpo Police Station and Yeongdeungpo Fire Station, on-site safety inspections will be conducted regularly and safety personnel and emergency response teams will be deployed. During the sunrise period, the district will thoroughly check ambulance passages and evacuation routes in preparation for emergencies and will install safety fences and barriers appropriately.
In addition, convenience facilities will be provided for the safety of residents. Warm tea and a heater will be provided at the warm shelter to prepare for the cold wave, so that visitors can make New Year’s wishes without inconvenience.
Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “As a large crowd is expected to attend the Seonyu Bridge sunrise event, we will thoroughly manage the number of people entering each district to create a safe environment,” and “We will make thorough preparations to ensure the safety of our residents.”
Yeongdeungpo-gu’s safety measures are expected to play a big role in allowing visitors to safely enjoy the symbolic moments of the coming New Year with their written wishes.
