Yongin Special City Jeju Air Passenger Plane Accident Victims Joint Incense Burner Established

Yongin Special City set up a joint incense burner on the first floor of the city hall on the 31st to commemorate the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane crash, and set aside time for citizens to commemorate the victims during the national mourning period. Yongin Special City set up a joint incense burner on the first floor of the city hall on the 31st to commemorate the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane crash. The incense burner will be open until January 4th, the national mourning period, and will be open to visitors from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on weekdays and from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on holidays and weekends.

Mayor Lee Sang-il, who visited the incense burner that day, paid tribute to the victims by writing in the guestbook, “I pray for the souls of those who died in the passenger plane disaster to rest in peace and express my condolences and comfort to their bereaved families.”

The city dispatched a delegation to the accident site and provided practical assistance, including food and winter supplies for the bereaved families. In addition, some city events were canceled or postponed to mourn the victims of this disaster, and the flag was flown at half-mast on the city and town halls.

All employees of Yongin Special City are wearing mourning ribbons to express their deep condolences to the victims during the national mourning period.

The joint incense burner has been set up as an open space for the citizens of Yongin, so that they can personally pay their respects to the victims. It is expected that many citizens will express their condolences to the victims and offer consolation to their bereaved families through their visit to the incense burner.

Mayor Lee Sang-il said, “I express my deepest condolences to the victims and their families who lost their precious lives in this passenger plane accident,” and “Yongin City will share in the nation’s grief and do its best to support the bereaved families.”
