Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 3rd that it has resolved the issue of movement of large logistics vehicles and pedestrian safety by expanding the 115m section of road from the entrance of Jeil Pharmaceutical in Geungok-ri, Baekam-myeon, Cheoin-gu.
This road expansion connects Provincial Road No. 325 (Icheon-Baekam) and Cheonggang-Gachang-ro (Jeil Bio General Industrial Complex), and is an area where there was a high risk of safety accidents due to the frequent traffic of large vehicles. It was promoted as a result of Jeil Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Jeil Health Science Co., Ltd. entrusting the city with the infrastructure that they were required to install when developing the Jeil Bio General Industrial Complex.
After signing the consignment agreement in 2021, the city completed compensation procedures and completed road expansion through construction from August to December last year.
The expanded section was expanded from the existing two-lane road in both directions to three lanes, and a new right-turn lane was created from the An-gil road in Cheonggang-ga-chang-ro toward the Jeil Pharmaceutical entrance intersection to improve traffic flow. On the other side, a new left-turn lane was created toward the Jeil Bio Industrial Complex.
In addition, an acceleration lane was installed in the direction of Geungok Intersection in Baekam-myeon on Provincial Road No. 325 to alleviate traffic congestion, and the length of the left turn lane toward Cheonggang-Gachang-ro was extended from 10 m to 57 m to allow more vehicles to wait.
In addition, new sidewalks were installed to enhance pedestrian safety.
The total project cost was 1.168 billion won, and the project was fully borne by the business operator. The city secured 77 million won in commission fees as non-tax income from this project.
City officials said, “We have improved the road environment by smoothing the flow of vehicles and enhancing pedestrian safety in sections where large vehicles usually travel frequently,” adding, “We will continue to expand infrastructure construction consignment projects in accordance with various development plans in the region to increase convenience for citizens.”
