Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced that it will reopen the newly remodeled **Haengju Battle Memorial Hall** on January 1st of next year. Since its construction in 1980, the memorial hall has not been remodeled for a long time, and has been experiencing problems such as aging facilities and a lack of exhibition content, leading to a decrease in visitors.

Accordingly, the city has been pushing forward with the renewal work as part of the ‘New Haengjusanseong Complete Conquest’ project. This project is one of the ‘Eco-Green Tourism Activation’ projects led by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and aims to regenerate historical value into a tourism resource by combining it with modern technology.

▲ Exhibition space where historical significance meets cutting-edge technology

The newly opened Haengju Battle Memorial Hall emphasizes the historical significance of Haengju Mountain Fortress, which was a strategic point since the Three Kingdoms Period, and adds explanations on the weapons and tactics used during the Haengju Battle. It also recreates the fierce 12 hours of the Haengju Battle in an immersive video, providing visitors with a vivid historical experience.

The core of this renewal is **building an interactive exhibition space**. Visitors can experience history more realistically through content that allows them to participate and experience more than just viewing exhibits.

▲ The viewing space consists of three exhibition areas

The memorial is divided into a total of **three zones**.

Zone 1: A general overview of the Battle of Haengju, along with displays of General Kwon Yul, General Cho Kyung, and the major weapons that contributed to the victory.

Zone 2: Experience the intense 12 hours of the Battle of Haengju through immersive video.

Zone 3: This is comprised of interactive, experiential content that allows visitors to experience the Battle of Haengju from the perspective of Joseon soldiers.

▲ A space to reflect on historical value

This renewal goes beyond simple exhibition improvements to a space that reinterprets the historical value of the Battle of Haengju in a modern way, and was designed to allow visitors to deeply reflect on the meaning of the Battle of Haengju and feel national pride.

A Goyang City official said, **“The Haengju Battle Memorial Hall has completed its renovation and is gearing up for its opening,” and added, “Starting on January 1st of next year, we will effectively convey the historical significance of the Haengju Battle to visitors and provide an unforgettable viewing experience.”**

Goyang City plans to continue its efforts to expand tourism infrastructure linking history and culture, taking advantage of the reopening of the Haengju Battle Memorial Hall, and to establish Haengjusanseong Fortress as a representative historical and tourist attraction.
