Incheon Seo-gu (District Mayor Kang Beom-seok) announced on December 31 that it had awarded the ‘Excellent Village Community Award’ to village communities that have taken the lead in revitalizing the local community. Seo-gu has achieved remarkable quantitative and qualitative growth in regional care, education, environment, and culture through various village community projects over the past six years.
In this award, Chorus (CEO Kwon Jeong-woo) and Art & Culture (CEO Lee Su-jin) were selected as the Western Outstanding Village Community, and Nonbat-i-eum (CEO Bae Hyeon-ok) was selected as the Incheon Outstanding Village Community.
Chorus has been providing educational services to improve digital literacy for the underprivileged and vulnerable groups in the region with the motto of ‘SW (software) education that leaves no one behind.’ By evenly delivering the benefits of the digital age to residents, it has contributed to laying the foundation for the 4th industrial revolution in the West.
Art & Culture has shared the history and value of the region with residents and revitalized local culture by focusing on the only natural monument in Seo-gu, Incheon, the Chinese fir tree. In particular, it has been recognized for its contribution in strengthening cooperation among residents by providing a venue for cultural and artistic exchange for residents with low access to literature and art.
Nonbat-Ieum has been in the spotlight for providing healthy food with agricultural products grown directly to children and the elderly in blind spots of care. In addition, it has been actively engaged in environmental purification activities that utilize rice paddies and fields to solve the problem of food waste by naturally recycling compost.
An official from the Seogu Village Community Support Center said, “Thanks to the efforts of the village communities who use their individual talents to help their neighbors and improve the environment, Seogu is transforming into a more livable area,” and “We look forward to an even more developed local living environment in 2025.”
Seogu plans to continue to support resident-led community activities and create a happy Seogu centered on its residents through various programs that promote community development and harmony.
