Seongnam City (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) announced that it is promoting local economic revitalization through ‘Hypstore’, a local commercial district specialized store directly selected by citizens for the first time in the country. Hipstore (Hyper Local Store) refers to a unique store in our neighborhood that is close enough to visit even wearing slippers, and is a project planned by Seongnam City to support local small business owners.

The five stores that were finally selected through the first Hip Store Audition last month are as follows.

Daolae Kimbap (specialized kimbap for children, Pangyo Station Road, Bundang-gu)

Deoksun’s (A new interpretation of traditional rice cakes, Sujeong-gu, Sujeongbuk-ro)

Seongnam Small Theater (Children are the best customers, Sujeong-gu, Sujeong-ro)

Filout Coffee (Everything about coffee, Beolmal-ro, Bundang-gu)

Heyscone (a restaurant with lots of friendly scones, Bundang-gu, Yatap-ro)

The city supported branding projects such as developing brand logos (BI) and improving signage and packaging designs for selected hip stores, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of each store and increasing the value of local commercial districts.

Seongnam City held a store competition audition using social media to attract the interest of the MZ generation. A total of 96 stores applied for this audition, which was the first of its kind in the country, and 65 stores ultimately participated. A total of 7,556 citizens participated in the vote, recording 114,985 votes, drawing keen interest.

Seongnam City plans to hold additional auditions in the first half of this year to discover and support more hip stores in 2025. Through this, the city plans to expand the diversity of local commercial districts, strengthen competitiveness, and create a specialized economic ecosystem unique to Seongnam City.

A Seongnam City official said, “We will strengthen collaboration with the hip stores selected this year and spare no support so that more small business owners can benefit through additional auditions,” adding, “We expect the hip store business to make a real contribution to revitalizing the local economy of Seongnam City.”
