Gyeyang-gu announced that it will be operating the ‘Youth Homework Room During Winter Vacation’ at the Hwang-eo Market March 1st Independence Movement History and Culture Center from January 9 to March 2. This program provides local youth with a safe space for learning and hobby activities during the vacation period, and offers them the opportunity to naturally encounter history and culture.
The ‘Hwang-eo Market March 1st Independence Movement History and Culture Center’ is a three-story facility built to commemorate the history of the local independence movement. The exhibition room on the first floor features explanations of the Hwang-eo Market Independence Movement, a digital video room, and a replica of the Independence Movement. The lecture hall on the second floor currently displays the Cheonan Independence Hall’s traveling exhibition ‘I am a Korean Liberation Army’, and an independent school program is also operated. The third floor houses the veterans’ organization office and youth club room, where this winter vacation homework program will be held.
To operate this project, the district prepared around 500 history-related books and board games to create an environment where young people can develop an interest in history through reading and playing, and use the cultural center in a familiar way.
A former official said, “I hope that during this winter vacation, the youth will have a meaningful time not only studying in the assignment room but also learning about history by visiting the exhibition hall.”
The youth homework room can be visited and used freely without a separate prior application, and the operating hours are from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays.
