Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 3rd that it will begin providing book summary services and full-text academic content services starting this year so that citizens can conveniently utilize book information and receive support for learning and research.

The book summary service provides the core content of the original book by condensing it to about 5% and providing it in the form of files such as Hangul, Word, PDF, and audiobook. This helps citizens understand the main content of the book in a short period of time and stimulates their desire to read, helping them get closer to the book.

In particular, we also operate the ‘Book Lunch Box’ service, which sends summaries of 6 recommended books once a week via Kakao Talk notification messages. You can apply for this service on the ‘Book Summary Service’ page of the digital data on the Yongin Special City Library website.

Currently, the library homepage provides summaries of approximately 8,000 books, and new books and summaries of popular books are added every month.

Through the academic content full-text provision service, you can read the full text of approximately 4 million academic papers and 4,700 electronic journals.

If you enter keywords of interest through the ‘DBpia’ service on the library business office homepage, generative AI will recommend paper topics and even provide a service that summarizes the paper. In addition, AI also supports a function that helps organize the table of contents of the paper, allowing for efficient research and study.

In addition to book summaries and academic databases, Yongin Special City provides citizens with a variety of electronic resources, including e-books, audiobooks, e-magazines, poetry libraries, and music libraries.

All electronic materials can be accessed anytime and anywhere by logging in as a regular member on the Yongin Special City Library website, and academic content (DBpia) services can be freely used after visiting a nearby library once and completing the authentication process.

An official from Yongin Special City said, “Through this book summary service and academic content provision service, citizens will be able to experience greater convenience and efficiency in reading, research, and learning,” and “We will continue to expand various electronic materials and services to improve the online reading and learning environment in the future.”

This service is part of Yongin Special City’s digital knowledge platform strategy that supports reading and academic information utilization, and is expected to contribute to creating an environment where citizens can access high-quality knowledge at any time.
