Starting from March of this year, you will be able to receive a mobile resident registration card at any administrative welfare center nationwide, regardless of your registered address. In addition, the limit for hometown love donations will increase from 5 million won to 20 million won, and families with two children will also be able to receive a reduction in automobile acquisition tax.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced 10 major policies for the new year, focusing on three major areas: ▲ improving convenience and overcoming the extinction of local regions, ▲ responding to the low birth rate and stabilizing people’s livelihoods, and ▲ ensuring safety in people’s daily lives, in order to create changes that the public can feel in their daily lives.
The mobile resident registration card, which will be fully implemented starting this March, can be issued at administrative welfare centers nationwide using a QR code or IC chip resident registration card. The issued mobile resident registration card can be used in the same way as a physical resident registration card at financial institutions, hospitals, convenience stores, etc., and is designed to provide only the necessary information to prevent personal information leakage. For example, when confirming adulthood, only the name and date of birth are displayed, and the address is not displayed.
New support measures have also been prepared to address the low birth rate problem. Starting this year, families with two children can also receive a 50% reduction in automobile acquisition tax, and the acquisition tax reduction limit for first-time home purchases has been increased from 2 million won to 3 million won. In addition, support will be provided for small-scale restaurants to subscribe to liability insurance to help with recovery in the event of fire or other accidents.
There are also many changes in the safety sector . Starting this year, the target of the comprehensive flood damage prevention project for regional flood damage living areas will be expanded from 18 to 35. In addition to rivers and drainage facilities , the target of the project will also include areas at risk of landslides and debris flows, which will likely protect residents in mountainous areas more safely . In addition, a ‘temporary relief set’ consisting of toothbrushes, toothpaste , towels, blankets, soap, and toilet paper will be provided for those who evacuate in advance due to extreme heavy rain, improving the disaster evacuation environment . Relief meals will also be improved to provide balanced , customized relief meals .
In January , the ‘Benefit Alimi’ service, which provides customized information on government benefits to each individual citizen , will be fully operational. This service can be used through frequently used private apps without having to access a separate public portal . It provides information on approximately 1,100 government benefits, including youth , childbirth, job search, and relocation , and plans to gradually expand the services provided by 2026 .
The annual donation limit for the Hometown Love Donation System will be expanded from 5 million won to 20 million won, and the range of tax deductions for donors will also be increased to the upper limit. Accordingly, it is expected to contribute to balanced regional development and overcoming local extinction.
