Guro-gu announced on the 26th that the middle school students’ dream-finding project ‘Chochok Concert’ was held at the Guro Creative Culture and Arts Center, hosted by Guro-gu and co-hosted by Guro Jinro Career Experience Center and ‘Dream Consultant’, a Seoul National University social sciences club and Seoul City social contribution non-governmental organization (NGO).

The ‘Moist Concert’ is a program in which ‘Dream Consultants’, who are undergraduate students of Seoul National University, share with teenagers the process of finding their dreams, how to overcome slumps, concerns of adolescence and the process of solving them, and information about their departments in the form of a lecture concert (performance). Guro-gu is the only one of the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul to hold the ‘Moist Concert’ at the district level.

75 students from 7 middle schools in Guro-gu participated in this event.

The 13 college student life guides (mentors) who took the stage as lecturers gave career lectures and specific information about 12 departments including the Department of Medicine, Department of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Advanced Convergence Science, and Department of Political Science and Diplomacy, and had time to resolve various questions students had about related majors.

A student who participated in the event said, “I had a lot of concerns about my future as I was about to enter high school, but the saying, ‘You don’t dream of a dream as a noun, you dream of it as a verb’ really touched me,” and added, “I think I need to take some time this winter vacation to organize what I’m good at and bad at, what I want to do and don’t want to do, the values I pursue, my hoped-for college, my personality, and my relationships with my friends.”

As the response to the ‘Moist Concert’ was so good, the district plans to continue the program next year as well.

A Guro-gu official said, “We hope that this event was of practical help in solving students’ concerns about their future career paths,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to help students find new dreams and challenge themselves to achieve higher dreams.”
