Ahead of the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump, global companies are continuing to donate. In particular, it has been reported that Apple CEO Tim Cook will personally donate $1 million.

CEO Tim Cook is known to have maintained a good relationship with President-elect Trump for a long time. They were close friends even during his first term, and he was one of the first people to congratulate him immediately after his victory in the presidential election. Since then, they have reportedly met several times at Trump Tower and Mar-a-Lago. It is reported that CEO Elon Musk also joined in the process.
The donations are seen as a move by companies to strengthen their ties with the Trump administration. Ford and General Motors each pledged $1 million and a vehicle, while Toyota Motor North America also pledged $1 million.
Additionally, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos are each donating $1 million, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai is scheduled to meet with President-elect Trump. These moves appear to be part of Big Tech’s strategy to build friendly relations with the Trump administration.
President-elect Trump’s inauguration is scheduled for January 20, 2025, and the inauguration fundraising has already reached a record high, which is interpreted as companies’ intention to strengthen their relationship with the Trump administration.
Meanwhile, Apple is said to not be making any separate donations.
