The Ministry of Health and Welfare announced that from January 2025, applicants for parental benefits, child support allowances, and child allowances will be able to join welfare membership without having to fill out a separate application form. This system improvement will make it easier for citizens to receive the welfare benefits they need.

Welfare membership is a system that provides customized guidance on welfare services that can be received by analyzing the income, assets, age, etc. of citizens. Currently, 10.2 million people (6.5 million households) are enrolled. If you use the simultaneous application system for welfare membership, you can automatically enroll in welfare membership without additional documents when applying for other social security benefits.

Starting in 2025, applicants for parental benefits, child support, and child allowances will also be able to join welfare membership through simultaneous applications. Previously, only 13 types of benefits could be applied for simultaneously: livelihood, medical, housing, and education benefits, single-parent family support, youth single-parent self-reliance support, sub-low-income class confirmation, sub-low-income self-reliance benefits, sub-low-income asset formation, basic pension, disability pension, disability allowance, and disabled child allowance . However, with this revision, more people will be able to receive welfare benefits easily.

1. Simultaneous application: Automatically enrolled through optional consent when applying for social security benefits such as parental benefits, child support allowance, and child allowance.

2. Online application: Apply easily at Bokjiro (www.bokjiro.go.kr)

3. Application in person: Application is possible at the nearest administrative welfare center regardless of address.

Bae Hyeong-woo, the welfare administration support officer at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, said, “In order to make it easier to sign up for welfare membership, we will continue to expand the benefits that can be applied for simultaneously,” and added, “You can apply both online and offline, so please show a lot of interest and apply.”

This expansion of the system is expected to contribute greatly to ensuring that citizens do not miss out on welfare benefits they are eligible to receive and to increasing the convenience of welfare use by simplifying the application process.
