Asan City is running a special historical experience program for families of elementary school students during the upcoming winter break. This program will be held every Saturday and Sunday from January 11 to February 2 at the Gobulmaengsa Memorial Hall, and will focus on the ‘Asan Namseong-ri Stone Coffin Tomb,’ one of Asan’s important cultural heritages.

This program, titled ‘Treasures of the Old Tombs’, presents an interesting excavation story related to the Asan Namseong-ri stone coffin tomb, a major relic in Chungcheongnam-do representing the early Iron Age. Participants can directly observe and touch artifacts such as bronze mirrors and bronze swords excavated from the stone coffin tomb, vividly experiencing history.
The program consists of various experiential activities. △Learning about the history and characteristics of the Asan Namseong-ri stone coffin tomb △Observing bronze artifacts △Making a mini stone coffin tomb △Learning about tombs from the Mahan and Baekje periods △Making curved jade and crown jade necklaces, etc., which participants can enjoy learning and experiencing. Through this, it provides an opportunity to naturally explore and understand the historical assets of the region.
Asan City officials said, “We expect this program to not only inform citizens of the historical value and interesting stories of the Asan Namseong-ri stone coffin tomb, but also serve as an opportunity to foster interest and affection for local history.”
