Cheonan City, Strengthening Location Identification by Installing Solar LED Base Number Plates

Cheonan City announced on the 2nd that it has installed ‘solar LED basic license plates’ in areas with a high incidence of traffic accidents and on roadsides where location identification is difficult. A total of 22 basic license plates have been installed this time, and this is a measure to support rapid rescue operations in case of an emergency and to enhance citizen safety.

The basic license plate is a signboard that guides the location of road facilities such as traffic lights, street lights, and areas without buildings based on the road name and basic number. In particular, it utilizes solar LED technology to charge electricity with solar power during the day and light up at night, making it easy to identify addresses even in the dark.

The license plate has a QR code attached so that emergency rescue agencies such as the police or fire department can easily receive location information. This is expected to enable quick and accurate location confirmation in the event of a traffic accident or emergency.

Cheonan Mayor Park Sang-don said, “We expect that the installation of solar-powered LED basic license plates will enable quick and effective responses to nighttime traffic accidents and other emergency situations,” adding, “We will continue to actively utilize the address information facility and do our best to create a safe living environment for citizens.”

Starting with this installation, Cheonan City plans to analyze the need for basic license plates and review whether to install more. Through this, the city plans to strengthen the traffic safety net and create an environment where citizens can live with greater peace of mind.

This solar LED base number plate operates in an environmentally friendly manner, and increases energy efficiency by charging electricity with solar energy absorbed during the day. Based on this environmentally friendly approach, Cheonan City plans to increase citizen convenience and continue sustainable urban development.
