Cheonan Heungtaeryeong Dance Festival selected as Chungnam's 'best festival'… Laying the foundation for global leap

Cheonan City announced on the 31st that the Cheonan Heungtaeryeong Dance Festival was selected as a ‘First-class Festival’, the highest grade, in the ‘1 City, 1 County, 1st-class Festival’ evaluation hosted by South Chungcheong Province.

Chungcheongnam-do Province introduced the ‘1 City, 1 County, 1 Product Festival’ evaluation system last year to strengthen the competitiveness of local festivals and revitalize the tourism industry. This evaluation comprehensively reviewed the previous year’s operating performance and improvement plans of each festival, and the carbon neutrality implementation efforts and potential for development into a global festival through expert on-site evaluations and written and presentation evaluations.

The Cheonan Heungtaeryeong Dance Festival received high praise for its unique planning centered on ‘dance’ and for presenting a specific global festival plan in conjunction with the ‘Visit Chungnam Year’. The fact that it has established itself as a representative dance festival of Korea by providing diverse performances, experience programs, and abundant attractions to domestic and international tourists every year was also a major factor in its selection.

In particular, this year’s festival garnered attention for further strengthening international competitiveness and elevating its status as a global festival that local residents and tourists can enjoy together.

A Cheonan City official said, “With this festival selection, we have secured support from South Chungcheong Province,” and added, “Based on this, we will expand international cultural exchanges and maximize tourism effects to make the Cheonan Heungtaeryeong Dance Festival a world-class festival.”

Meanwhile, the Cheonan Heungtaeryeong Dance Festival 2025 is scheduled to be held for five days from September 24 to 28 at Cheonan Stadium. This festival plans to welcome audiences from around the world with content that combines more diverse international elements and regional characteristics.
