At the ‘2024 Disabled Children Family Parenting Support Project Service Utilization and Provision Case Contest’ hosted by the Korea Disabled People’s Development Institute, the work ‘Self-Doing Children, Growing Parents’ by Han Yun-mi from the Solidarity for the Rights of the Disabled won the grand prize. This work contains the process in which parents and caregivers of autistic children collaborate to bring about independence and growth in the children. Han stated that with the help of care services, she was able to foster independence in her children, and that she was also able to reduce the burden of parenting and have time to recover.

The Excellence Award went to Kim Ga-rin from the Gyeongsangnam-do Parents’ Association for the Disabled with “Times That Bring Blurryness Back to Light” and Kim Il-dong from the Ulsan Metropolitan City Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled with “My Hope That Grows as Big as Your Heart That Approaches Little by Little.” The Encouragement Awards went to Park Jin-sun from the Chungcheongnam-do Parents’ Association for the Disabled with “From a World of Silence to a World of Sound,” Hong Seung-joo from the Daejeon Metropolitan City Parents’ Association for the Disabled with “Our Care, Moments That Were Possible Because We Were Together,” and Ahn Subin from the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled with “If You Can Dream It, You Can Make It Come True.”
Also, in the business implementation agency field, ‘New Beginning’ by Yang Ji-won from the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Parents of the Disabled Association and ‘The First Steps of a Peeping Chick Social Worker’ by Kim Na-kyung from the Daegu Metropolitan City Parents of the Disabled Association received encouragement awards.
Director Lee Kyung-hye of the Korea Disabled People’s Development Institute said that through this contest, she hopes to support the growth and hope of families with disabled children, and that families who are struggling due to the burden of care will find happiness in their daily lives through the Disabled Children Family Support Project.
