The musical ‘Blue Blind’ directed by Park Hae-mi is receiving rave reviews in New York. The work has impressed New York audiences through a recent workshop showcase, solidifying its potential for the global market. Blue Blind is challenging Broadway and presenting a new artistic experience that harmonizes traditional Korean culture and modern art.
In this showcase, ‘Blue Blind’ showed various performance scenes that were reinterpreted in a modern way, including ‘The Bargain’, which combined strong hip-hop and rap elements. Notable points include the music created through collaboration with Kevin Karim, and Letitia Hannan’s dynamic choreography that also drew admiration from the audience. The participation of Korean artists Seo Eui-cheol (Pansori) and Choi Shin-ah (Traditional Dance) further enhanced the musical’s perfection.

The costume design became a hot topic through collaboration with Andy Chia Yu who used sustainable materials, and the ocean-themed costumes emphasized environmental responsibility. In particular, the meticulous details designed by Director Park Shin-hyo of The Hanbok and image designers maximized the beauty of the work.
In a conversation with the audience, director Park Hae-mi said, “This work is the fruit of true love and devotion,” and that it has been her long-time dream to see this story resonate with audiences in New York. She added, “This showcase will confirm our potential and be the first step toward the global expansion of the work.”
‘Blue Blind’ is now ready to break down the barriers between the East and the West and show the true value of cross-cultural storytelling. Director Park Hae-mi plans to continue creating opportunities to communicate with more audiences through such works in the future.
