Disabled Badminton Players from All Over the Country Show Off Their Skills in Sejong

Sejong Special Self-Governing City (Mayor Choi Min-ho) announced on the 26th that the ‘1st Korea Donggrami Partners National Disabled Badminton Competition’ held at the Sejong Citizens’ Gymnasium for two days from the 23rd to the 24th ended successfully. This competition was filled with great enthusiasm as it provided an opportunity for Sejong City to establish itself as a center for disabled sports.

About 250 people from all over the country participated, full of passion for disabled sports

This competition was co-hosted by the Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Disabled (Chairman Lee Jong-seong), Korea Donggrami Partners (CEO Jeong Il-yong), and the Korea Badminton Association for the Disabled (Chairman Woo Cheol-hee), and organized by the Sejong Special Self-Governing City Badminton Association for the Disabled (Chairman Jeong Yong-pil). Approximately 250 players and officials from all over the country participated, competing their skills and demonstrating the potential of disabled sports.

The competition was fiercely contested in various events, and the Sejong City team, consisting of a total of 13 players and 3 coaches (1 manager, 2 coaches), participated in 3 events. In particular, in the DB mixed doubles event, Kim Mi-seon, who teamed up with players from Gyeonggi Province, won a bronze medal, thereby raising the status of the region.

Sejong City, Willing to Create the Optimal Environment for Disabled Sports

Mayor Choi Min-ho (Chairman of Sejong City Disabled Sports Association) highly praised the hosting of the competition and the passionate performance of the athletes, saying, “I would like to thank all the athletes and officials who visited Sejong City. We will continue to spare no support for disabled sports and create an environment where athletes can demonstrate their best performance.”

Adding meaning to the competition, employment of the disabled and sports

This competition was not simply a sports event, but also had added meaning in improving awareness of disabled employment and leading to harmonious development of sports. Korea Donggrami Partners supported the cost of the competition and contributed to the activation of disabled sports, and the Korea Disabled Badminton Association and Sejong City Disabled Badminton Association successfully led the competition with meticulous program planning and operation.

The Korea Employment Promotion Agency for the Disabled has been working to improve awareness of the employment of the disabled through the competition and has contributed to creating a society where the disabled and non-disabled coexist.

Sejong City, Leading Sports and Social Values

Through this competition, Sejong City has shown the potential to expand the base of local sports and establish itself as a center for the development of sports for the disabled.
