Goyang City, '2-month 500,000 step health walking challenge' successfully concluded

Ilsanseo-gu Public Health Center in Goyang Special City announced on the 12th that it had successfully completed the ‘2-month 500,000 step health walking challenge’, a non-face-to-face walking program that had been in operation since October. A total of 1,061 citizens participated, and 409 of them achieved their goal.

Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) Ilsanseo-gu Health Center announced that the ‘2-month 500,000 Steps Healthy Walking Challenge’, a non-face-to-face walking program that ran for two months, was successfully completed with great response from citizens.

The ‘2-month 500,000 step health walking challenge’ is a program to walk 500,000 steps over 2 months using the mobile walking platform ‘Walk On’. It was operated in a way that only a maximum of 10,000 steps per day were recognized, and out of a total of 1,061 citizens who participated, 409 people, or 39%, achieved their goal.

Ilsanseo-gu Health Center conducted a satisfaction survey of participants after the program ended. According to the survey results, 55% of respondents answered ‘very satisfied’ and 42% answered ‘satisfied’, showing high satisfaction with the walking program.

Among the participants who complete the challenge, 150 people will be selected to receive a small gift.

One citizen who participated in the program said, “I set a daily step goal and started consciously walking more to achieve it,” adding, “It was good to be able to create healthy habits.”

An official from Ilsanseo-gu Health Center said, “It appears that the walking program has had a positive effect on improving the health of citizens,” and added, “We plan to run the program again in the first half of next year to support more citizens to participate and practice healthy lifestyle habits.”

The ‘2-month 500,000 step healthy walking challenge’ is a program designed to help citizens lead healthy lives by consistently walking in their daily lives, and is expected to contribute to spreading the walking culture in the future.
