Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) Deokyang-gu Health Center is operating the ‘ON Family Obesity Camp’ in a non-face-to-face manner to solve the obesity problem and spread healthy lifestyle habits. Recruitment will be held until the 18th, and the target participants are 15-20 households with children under the age of 10 living in Goyang City.
The ‘ON Family Obesity Camp’ is a non-face-to-face health management program using a mobile app, which provides participating families with nutrition education workbooks and physical activity kits to encourage practical lifestyle improvement. In particular, priority is given to those in households where more than half of the members require obesity management (adult body mass index (BMI) 25 kg/m² or higher, child BMI 85th percentile or higher).
The program is based on voluntary participation at home, and participants are provided with a certificate of completion and daily necessities for physical activity. In addition, additional rewards are given to households that achieve excellent weight loss results after completing the program.
A health center official emphasized that obesity is closely related to lifestyle habits, and explained that effective obesity management is possible only when families improve health habits together. He said, “We expect this program to enhance the obesity management capacity of local residents and contribute to establishing healthy lifestyle habits.”
Applications for participation and related inquiries can be made through Deogyang-gu Public Health Center (☎031-8075-4669).
