Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced that it will begin operating five hydrogen fuel cell village buses on Route 053, the first of its kind in Gyeonggi Province.

◆ Hydrogen village bus, first introduced in Gyeonggi Province

The 053 village bus route, which will be equipped with a hydrogen bus this time, will start from the Pureunmaeul 10 complex in Goyang-dong and run through Daejadong and Sinwon villages to Samsong Station. This is the first case in Gyeonggi-do to introduce a hydrogen bus to a village bus, and Goyang City’s will to expand eco-friendly transportation stands out.

This introduction of hydrogen buses was carried out as part of the **’Hydrogen Electric Bus Introduction Support Project’**. This project is a policy that aims to build an eco-friendly ecosystem by providing subsidies to hydrogen bus introduction companies with the goal of distributing zero-emission vehicles and improving urban air quality.

◆ Introduction of hydrogen buses expanding to city buses

Goyang City plans to expand the introduction of hydrogen buses not only to village buses but also to city buses.

Hydrogen buses can travel up to 635 km on a single charge, and the charging time is short at less than 30 minutes, allowing for stable operation. This is expected to greatly contribute to improving transportation convenience for citizens, as the driving distance and charging efficiency are much higher than those of electric buses.

◆ Leaping forward to become a leading city in the hydrogen economy

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang City said, “We plan to introduce an additional 40 hydrogen electric buses by investing a budget of 13 billion won by 2025,” and emphasized, “We will continue to make efforts so that Goyang City can establish itself as a leading city in activating the hydrogen economy.”

◆ Hydrogen charging infrastructure expansion plan

Goyang City is also working hard to build infrastructure to revitalize the hydrogen economy.

◆ Future vision of an eco-friendly city

Starting with the introduction of this hydrogen bus, Goyang City plans to leap forward as a sustainable, eco-friendly city based on hydrogen energy. Through this, it plans to achieve the goals of improving citizens’ transportation convenience, improving air quality, and realizing an energy self-sufficient city.
