Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced that the Municipal Hanmoe Library conducted a joint ‘Citizen Participation Joint Firefighting Training’ with the Jungsan 119 Safety Center on the 24th. This training was designed to strengthen fire response capabilities within libraries and raise citizens’ safety awareness as the risk of fires increases in the winter.

The training began with a demonstration of library staff (self-defense fire brigade) using fire extinguishers to put out an early fire. Under the guidance of firefighters, the staff developed the ability to quickly put out a fire using fire extinguishers in preparation for a real situation.

Next, an evacuation drill was conducted with library users. Under the guidance of library staff, users learned the procedure for evacuating quickly and orderly along the designated evacuation route. This drill was conducted based on a real situation, and citizens became familiar with the evacuation procedure and improved their ability to respond to emergency situations.

An official from the Jung-san 119 Safety Center said, “The library is a multi-use facility used by many citizens, so rapid response and evacuation in the event of a fire is of the utmost importance,” and added, “We hope that through this training, citizens will develop the ability to evacuate safely without panicking in the event of a fire.”

Park Gyeong-tae, head of the Ilsanseo-gu Library, said, “This training was an important opportunity to provide practical education so that library users can respond properly in emergency situations,” and added, “We plan to create a safe library environment through regular fire drills in the future.”

Goyang City Hanmoe Library plans to continue to do its best to ensure that citizens can use the library safely through continuous joint fire drills and safety education.
