Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced that it held a ceremony to celebrate the opening of the KINTEX-Daegok Station section of the GTX-A line of the Seoul Metropolitan Area Express Railway at KINTEX Station on the 28th. About 200 people including Mayor Lee Dong-hwan, members of the National Assembly, provincial assembly members, city assembly members, construction officials, and local residents attended the event to celebrate the opening.

◆ GTX-A Route Overview

The newly opened GTX-A section is a route that connects Paju Unjeong Central Station to Seoul Station, passing through KINTEX, Daegok, and Yeonsinnae. The entire GTX-A route is 82.1 km long, and connects to Hwaseong Dongtan Station via Seoul Samseong Station. Samseong Station is scheduled to open in 2028, and Changneung Station in 2030.

The GTX-A train runs at a maximum speed of 180 km/h and, with fewer stops, acts as an express train. With this opening, the travel time from KINTEX to Seoul Station is expected to be significantly shortened from 50 minutes to 16 minutes, which will greatly reduce commuting time.

First train: KINTEX Station → Seoul Station (05:34)

Last train: Seoul Station → KINTEX Station (24:38)

Fare: Basic fare 3,200 won + distance fare 250 won (per 5 km over 10 km)

At the opening ceremony, Goyang Special City Mayor Lee Dong-hwan emphasized, **“The opening of GTX-A will go beyond simple expansion of the transportation network and promote the revitalization of self-sufficient facilities such as the economic free zone, K-Culture Valley, and Goyang Film Valley, as well as investment attraction,” and **“It will be a groundbreaking turning point that will strengthen the city’s competitiveness and create new economic opportunities.”**

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan also stated, **”We plan to build a dense metropolitan transportation network, including the Gwangju Line currently being prepared for opening, the Goyang-Eunpyeong Line and Daejang-Hongdae Line, which are currently under construction, the Line 9 Daegok extension and the Line 3 express line, which are currently under review.”**
