Goyang Special City (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced that it will begin full-scale environmental improvement projects at the ‘Apricot Tree Children’s Park’ located at 975 Haengsin-dong, Deogyang-gu.

Since its establishment in 1993, the Apricot Tree Children’s Park has had a low utilization rate due to the aging of the pavement and children’s play facilities, and in particular, there have been continuous complaints about inconveniences caused by poor drainage.

This environmental improvement project is being promoted as part of Gyeonggi Province’s ‘Ainuri Playground Creation Project’, and a total project cost of 250 million won (provincial government 75 million won, city government 175 million won) will be invested. Completion is scheduled for May of next year.

The city plans to collect opinions from playground experts, local residents, and children to reorganize walking paths and drainage ditches in a 1,500-square-meter park and create an eco-friendly playground.

Through this project, the existing monotonous and outdated children’s park is expected to be transformed into a theme park full of creativity and imagination. It will be reborn as an open space where not only children but also local residents can enjoy walking and resting.

Yang Hyeon-jong, head of the Deokyang Park Management Division at the Blue City Project Office, said, “The purpose of this environmental improvement project is to create a park that can be used safely and pleasantly by both children and local residents,” and added, “We will reflect various opinions to create a children’s park that is loved by everyone.”

Goyang City expects that this Apricot Tree Children’s Park environmental improvement project will bring about positive changes to the local community by improving the quality of life of residents and providing a safe and enjoyable space for children to play.
