Bucheon City participated in the ‘Data Analysis Specialist Training Course’ of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, which was held for approximately 5 months from last May. The course aimed to cultivate the ability to solve practical field problems by utilizing advanced analysis technology, and 40 people participated after being selected through a competition rate of 2.5:1 among the talents recommended by central government agencies, local governments, and public institutions.
The training consists of learning core technologies for each stage of data analysis, including data processing, visualization, and modeling. In particular, an in-depth curriculum was provided so that participants could acquire capabilities at the level of a ‘Data Analysis Professional (ADP)’, the highest nationally recognized data analysis qualification.
The course focused on developing practical problem-solving skills through field-oriented projects with experts, as well as theory. Participants strengthened their analytical skills by dealing with real-life cases that could occur in the field, and 35 people who passed the final evaluation received a certificate of data analysis specialist.
Bucheon City has once again established itself as a leading local government in the field of data utilization through this certification. In particular, Bucheon City is receiving attention as a model case of data-based administration by receiving the highest grade of ‘Excellent’ in the ‘2023 Public Data Provision and Operation Status Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety this year.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it plans to manage the talents certified in this course as key government-level talents. It also plans to further develop data analysis expertise by operating additional training and expert networks for continuous capacity building.
Bucheon Mayor Cho Yong-ik said, “This certification shows that Bucheon City has made a leap forward as a city leading data-based administration,” and added, “We will continue to take the lead in improving the quality of life of citizens and realizing smart city administration through policy decisions and scientific administration utilizing data.” Bucheon City plans to further solidify its vision as a model city for data-centered administration based on this achievement.
