Seongdong-gu, expanding support for postpartum care costs for families giving birth

1. More maternal benefits through relaxation of residency requirements

Seongdong-gu will ease the qualifications for postpartum care support starting in January 2025, changing the requirement of living in the district for more than 6 months to more than 3 months. This is a measure to ensure that more mothers can receive the benefits.

2. Support of 500,000 won regardless of income

Seongdong-gu’s postpartum care cost support project, which began in 2023, provides 500,000 won to all families giving birth regardless of income, and recorded a support rate of 89% in 2024.

3. Additional support of 1 million won in vouchers

All mothers residing in Seoul, regardless of their length of residence, can receive a voucher worth 1 million won that can be used in permitted businesses related to postpartum care. This voucher can be used for various services such as postpartum helpers, medicine, health food, massage, yoga, body management, and postpartum depression counseling.

How to apply

You can apply online or visit the community center within 60 days of the date of birth. Online applications are available on the ‘Government 24’ website for cash support and the ‘Seoul Mom Care’ website for vouchers. You can apply for cash and vouchers at the same time when visiting the community center.

Seongdong-gu District Mayor Jeong Won-oh said, “We will ease residency requirements so that more families with children can reduce their financial burden and create a good environment for giving birth and raising children.”
