The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 2nd that it will provide emergency relief funds of 500 million won to stabilize the lives of the bereaved families of the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane crash that occurred at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province on the 29th of last month and to help with the recovery of damages. The relief funds will be donated to the National Disaster Relief Association, and additional support will include counseling and volunteer personnel, medical and relief supplies, and portable toilets.

Immediately after the accident, the Seoul Metropolitan Government dispatched 7 ambulances and 15 paramedics, and later, at the request of the bereaved families and South Jeolla Province, provided ▴20,000 medical supplies and ▴200 sets of emergency relief supplies, including blankets and underwear. For psychological support, 84 disaster psychology counselors and one counseling bus were prepared, and 1,000 volunteers are on standby.
About 20,000 mourners visited the joint incense-burning altar set up in front of Seoul City Hall from the 31st to 2 PM on the 2nd, and the incense-burning altar will be open until 10 PM on the 4th. 100 Seoul City employees and volunteers are on site to help guide visitors and operate the incense-burning altar.
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said, “I pray for the souls of those who died in the accident to rest in peace and offer my deepest condolences to their bereaved families,” and added that he will continue to do his best to provide support and recovery from the damage.
