Seoul City, Jeju Air passenger plane crash victims joint incense burner operation extended until the 10th

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will extend the operation of the ‘Jeju Air Passenger Plane Accident Victims Joint Incense Burner’, which is currently installed and operated in front of the main gate of the Seoul Metropolitan Government Building, until 10 PM on the 10th (Friday).

The city added that it had planned to operate the joint incense burner until 10 p.m. on Saturday the 4th, the last day of mourning, but decided to extend the operating period in response to the bereaved families’ request.

* Extension: ‘24.12.31.(Tue) 08:00 ~ ‘25.1.10.(Fri) 22:00

As of 10 PM on Thursday, the 2nd, 23,567 citizens had visited the joint incense-burning altar that opened on December 31st, and the flow of visitors continues.

The Seoul City Hall Joint Incense Burner will operate from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM as before, and any citizen can visit the site at their own discretion outside of these hours. An online incense burner will also be operated from 8:00 AM on Sunday the 5th. You can enter by clicking on the banner at the top of the main page of the Seoul City Hall website (www.seoul.go.kr) and leave online wreaths and memorial messages.

A ‘peace of mind bus’ is also in operation near the incense burner. A mental health counselor is stationed on the bus to provide psychological counseling related to trauma.

Seoul City Administrative Bureau Director Lee Dong-ryul said, “I hope that the emptiness felt by the bereaved families will be filled, even if only a little, through the operation of the Seoul City Joint Incense Burner,” and “We will operate the incense burner so that citizens can pay their condolences safely.”
