Yeongdeungpo-gu was selected as the ‘Best Project’ in both the institutional and individual categories at the ‘Mayor’s Award for Maternal and Child Health Projects’ held at Seoul City Hall. This means that the various projects Yeongdeungpo-gu implemented to promote the health of pregnant women and infants were highly evaluated.
This award is given annually by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to excellent organizations and individuals by comprehensively evaluating the performance of maternal and infant health projects in each autonomous district to promote the health of pregnant women and infants. Yeongdeungpo-gu has been promoting various policies to create a good environment for raising children, from pregnancy to childbirth and care, with the vision of ‘Yeongdeungpo, where children and women are happy.’

In particular, Yeongdeungpo-gu expanded the support for fertility test costs to male and female residents, and received positive responses through customized support programs such as group counseling for infertile women and health management services through visiting nurses. These efforts have greatly contributed to ensuring appropriate support, especially for vulnerable groups and marginalized pregnant women and infants.
Yeongdeungpo-gu District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “Today, when the sound of a baby’s cry is precious, we will increase the birth rate and enhance the happiness of parents and children through the maternal and child health project,” and added, “We will do our best to make Yeongdeungpo a ‘good place to raise children’ where many young people settle down in Yeongdeungpo, get married, have children, and raise them.”
It is expected that Yeongdeungpo-gu’s continued efforts and policies will continue to provide happy lives to many pregnant women and infants.
