Uijeongbu City (Mayor Dong-geun Kim) announced on the 3rd that it will revise the ‘Uijeongbu City Childbirth Incentive Support Ordinance’ to provide a childbirth incentive of 300,000 won to families with first children born after January 1, 2025.

Through this revision, the city has maintained the 1 million won childbirth incentive that was previously provided to families with a second child or more, while expanding the support target to include families with a first child. Accordingly, households registered as residents of Uijeongbu City and residing there will receive 300,000 won for the birth of their first child, and 1 million won for the birth of their second child or more.

Applications for childbirth incentives can be made at the local community center within five years from the date of birth, and this expanded support will be applied starting this year.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “By introducing the first child birth incentive, we hope to reduce the sense of alienation among families with first children and create a childbirth-friendly environment,” adding, “I hope this will provide practical help to families with children.”

Mayor Kim continued, “We will continue to work to make Uijeongbu a great city to raise children through various childcare policies, such as operating 24-hour daycare centers, English playgrounds, and part-time daycare centers.”

The city plans to focus on alleviating the problem of low birth rates through this expansion of childbirth incentives and creating a city where children and parents can be happy together.
