Ulsan City 'Digital Innovation U-Forum' Launch Ceremony Held

Ulsan City has launched a new ‘Digital Innovation U-Forum’ to accelerate the convergence of key industries and digital technologies. Ulsan City and Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency announced that they held the forum launching ceremony at the Ulsan Mercure Ambassador Hotel at 11:00 AM on December 18 and laid the foundation for cooperation between industry, academia, research, and government.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by approximately 80 people from academia, industry, and research, including Chairman Lee Dong-gu (Honorary Researcher at the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology), Ulsan City Policy Special Advisor Yoon Si-cheol, New Industry Division Director Lee Eun-sook, and Ulsan IT Industry Promotion Agency Director Jang Byeong-tae.

The ‘Digital Innovation U-Forum’ was established to accelerate Ulsan’s economic development and digital transformation by reconstructing the existing ‘4th Industrial Revolution U-Forum’. The forum is divided into six divisions: △Shipbuilding △Automobile △Chemical △Energy △3D Printing, and is operated with 87 experts.

Key activities include establishing a comprehensive plan to foster the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, establishing a strategy to utilize the Digital Product Passport (DPP), establishing carbon neutrality and a circular economy, and establishing a Manufacturing-X and Meta Factory plan for manufacturing intelligence.

Chairman Lee Dong-gu said, “I will do my best to ensure that the Digital Innovation U-Forum can lead the digital transformation of Ulsan’s main industries and foster new future industries.”

Jang Byeong-tae, head of the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, said, “We plan to continue to provide active support and investment so that Ulsan can establish itself as a leading city in digital transformation.”

Ulsan city officials emphasized, “Together with experts from academia, industry, and research, we will come up with strategic tasks that will contribute to manufacturing innovation, strengthening corporate competitiveness, creating an innovation ecosystem, and creating jobs.”
