The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Geun-sik Jeong) operates sports festivals exclusively for female students, such as ‘Gongchasoseo’, ‘Gongchisoseo’, and ‘Yeosin’, to expand opportunities for female students to participate in sports and practice the value of sports in their daily lives.
Kick the Ball! Girls! In Seoul ! is a sports club activation project that provides opportunities for female students who like soccer to enjoy soccer with their friends. It is an abbreviation for “Let’s Kick the Ball! Girls! In Seoul!” This project, which first started in 2021, has expanded the scale of participation every year, and this year, it has grown into a competition with 64 teams (1,235 people). In particular, this project has achieved the result of expanding the number of women’s soccer teams participating in the “2024 Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Cup School Sports Club Competition” to a total of 208 teams (21 elementary school teams, 106 middle school teams, and 81 high school teams).
The 4th Gongchasoseo Festival, held at Gyeonggi Machinery and Technology High School on November 16, will feature the final matches of 8 middle and high school teams (approximately 160 people) selected through league play. The Office of Education plans to support more female students to participate in sports by establishing a women’s futsal division in the school sports club competition starting in the 2025 school year.

The Gongchiseo Festival, which means “Let’s hit the ball! Girls! In Seoul!”, is a program that provides opportunities for female students interested in baseball to participate. This year, 119 female students participated in five regions, which is an increase from last year, and the third festival was held successfully at Deoksu High School on October 19. In the 2025 school year, the T-ball event will be added to further expand opportunities for baseball participation.
The Goddess School Sports Club Festival is operated by a total of five educational support offices in cooperation so that female students can enjoy various sports, including soccer, dodgeball, volleyball, basketball, and badminton.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education plans to systematically and substantively promote diverse sports programs to promote female students’ physical education. Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education Superintendent Jeong Geun-sik said, “We will continue to support the promotion of one student, one sport and the expansion of school sports clubs so that female students can enjoy the sports they like to their heart’s content.”
