Sejong Special Self-Governing City has selected 10 representative tourist attractions in the region based on recommendations from citizens. This selection is the first step in developing tourism products that link art and cultural performances and festivals, and is part of a strategy to establish Sejong City as a tourist city.

The process of selecting this tourist attraction was carried out through a citizen participation survey and expert opinion collection starting in November of last year. The selected tourist attraction candidates were finally decided through a citizen vote.

Sejong Lake Park is the largest artificial lake park in Korea and is a representative tourist attraction where you can enjoy both nature and culture. Its value has been proven by being designated as one of the 100 best tourist destinations in Korea along with the National Arboretum. Meanwhile, Ieungdari Bridge is a pedestrian bridge with a circumference of 1,446m built to commemorate the proclamation of Hangeul by King Sejong. It was also selected as one of the 100 best local cultural attractions and one of the 100 best nighttime tourist destinations.

Bear Tree Park is a natural treasure trove of Asiatic black bears and over 1,000 species of flowers and trees, and the Sejong Government Complex Rooftop Garden is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest rooftop garden, attracting tourists.

In addition, the Presidential Archives, where you can learn about the history of past presidents, Jochon Cherry Blossom Road, one of the three major cherry blossom roads in Sejong City, and Gofok Natural Park, where you can enjoy nature and leisure, were also selected.

Sejong City plans to continue to discover tourist attractions through citizen participation every year and use them to enhance its competitiveness as a tourist city. Through this, it plans to promote the city’s charm and build a city image that combines art and culture.

Sejong City Tourism Promotion Division Director Ahn Ki-eun said, “We will plan various cultural and artistic programs and festivals utilizing the 10 tourist attractions and introduce travel products linked to them,” adding, “Through this, we will simultaneously achieve the goal of attracting tourists and revitalizing the local economy.”
