Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Ki-jae) announced on the 3rd (Friday) that it will release “2025 Changing Yangcheon Life,” which contains new projects to be implemented and expanded in 2025, systems closely related to the lives of residents, and major policies.

‘Changing Yangcheon Life’ is a ‘policy guide’ produced so that residents can easily understand and utilize the changing policies and systems for the new year. This year, it contains changes to a total of 50 major policies and systems in 5 major areas: ▲Clean City ▲Healthy City ▲Safe City ▲Warm City ▲Happy Educational City.
□ Clean City: 7 projects including ‘Expansion of Yangcheon-type Hope House Repair Project’
First, the ‘Yangcheon-type Hope House Repair Project’, which improves the living environment of low-income vulnerable groups and enhances their quality of life, will be expanded from 84 households to 115 this year. The ‘house repair construction’ sector will support up to 2.5 million won per household for 18 types of repairs, including painting, paneling, insulation, and sinks, for a total of 60 households, and for 55 households with students aged 8 to 19, ‘study room creation’, including desks, chairs, bookshelves, and painting, will be supported up to 2 million won to create a pleasant learning environment.
In order to resolve the chronic parking shortage in residential areas and provide safe and comfortable parking spaces, two new public parking lots will open. The ‘Cherry Blossom Road Public Parking Lot’ in Sinjeong 4-dong will have 74 parking spaces, and will open in May with 2 underground levels and 3 above-ground levels, while the ‘Mok 3-dong Public Parking Lot’ will have 35 spaces and is scheduled to open in August.
In addition, administrative convenience will be improved by expanding the installation of ‘unmanned civil service issuance machines’ so that civil service applicants can receive civil service documents at a desired time at a nearby location without having to visit the administrative agency, and newly installing ‘unmanned civil service issuance machines for corporations’.
□ Healthy City: 3 projects including ‘Mokdong Tennis Court Indoor Court Operation’
Starting in February of this year, three of the 18 outdoor courts at Mokdong Tennis Court will be converted into indoor courts with roofs, allowing tennis to be enjoyed all year round, even when it rains or snows.
The newly built ‘Health Center Annex’, which was built to secure the insufficient space and provide customized healthcare services centered on the users, will also open this year. The Health Center Annex, which is 2 underground floors and 3 above-ground floors, will have a health promotion center for residents where physical function assessments and 12 types of circuit exercise can be performed, a rehabilitation program room, a metabolic syndrome management center, and an imam center, etc., so it is expected to provide one-stop healthcare services.
□ Safe City: 6 projects including ‘Implementation of Citizen Safety Insurance’
Starting this year, if you suffer an unexpected accident in your daily life, any Yangcheon-gu resident can receive compensation through the ‘Citizen Safety Insurance’. All residents registered in Yangcheon-gu are automatically enrolled and are covered for medical expenses for injuries, funeral expenses for injuries, etc.
The ‘road heating line’ to prevent winter slope accidents will also be expanded. It will be installed in 7 locations including Mokdong Jungangbon-ro 2-gil to establish a rapid snow removal system through remote snow removal and create a safe road environment even in heavy snow.
□ Warm City: 23 projects including ‘Yangcheon Public Shared Office Creation and Operation’
Local economic revitalization and support for the socially disadvantaged are also key projects. First, a new ‘Yangcheon Public Shared Office’ will be built near Yeomchang Station to provide space for startups and to attract potential startups in the region by providing them with convenient facilities such as co-working spaces, meeting rooms, and conference rooms.
A new ‘Creative Craft Center’ will be created in the airport noise countermeasure area. It will operate a shared workshop and training room for craft artists, and will host various events such as flea markets, as well as an airplane observation deck and rooftop cafe, providing opportunities for cultural enjoyment to residents who are affected by airport noise.
The ‘Banollim Side Dish Support’ project, which provides healthy side dishes to single-person households at risk of skipping meals due to social isolation, will also be expanded. This is the will of Mayor Lee Ki-jae of Yangcheon-gu to focus on verified welfare projects with high satisfaction among beneficiaries, and will be significantly expanded from the previous support of 800 households, 10 times a year, to 1,500 households, 12 times a year this year, helping more beneficiaries consume healthy nutrition.
Six public senior centers that are over 30 years old will reopen this year after installing elevators and completing expansion and remodeling. The senior centers are called ‘Handu, Danggok, Singok, Gyeongbok, Geumsil, and Yangmok’ and are expected to be transformed into safer and more comfortable senior welfare spaces.
□ Happy Education City: 11 projects including ‘Expansion of support for national qualification examination fees for youth’
In order to ease the economic burden on young people due to the prolonged job search period and increased examination fees, and to support the development of employment capabilities, the ‘Youth National Qualification Examination Fee Support’ will also be expanded. Previously, up to 100,000 won was provided per person in the first year of application, but from this year, the application year restriction has been removed and up to 200,000 won per person will be provided.
The ‘Seoul-style Kids Cafe’, where children can play freely without being restricted by external environments such as cold, heat, and fine dust within a short distance of their living areas, will increase from the existing three locations to 11 locations with the addition of eight new locations this year.
In order to actively respond to the low birth rate problem, the ‘Yangcheon-gu Childcare Town’, which provides childcare services from care to meal management, experiential activities, and a toy library in one place, has also completed construction and will open in October of this year. Inside the facility, which is 2 underground floors and 5 above-ground floors, there are ▲Childcare Comprehensive Support Center ▲Toy Library·Communal Childcare Room ▲Keeum Center ▲Childcare Management Support Center ▲Infant Experience Center (Cooking Experience Room) ▲Municipal Daycare Center, etc., which will be combined in one space to provide a healthy growth environment for children and a quality childcare environment for parents.
