Yongin Special City was selected as an excellent organization in the ‘2023 Fiscal Year Han River Basin Management Fund Project Performance Evaluation’ hosted by the Han River Basin Environmental Office under the Ministry of Environment, and received a special award and a prize of 3 million won.

Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 20th that the Han River Basin Environmental Office was selected as an excellent organization in the ‘2023 Fiscal Year Han River Basin Management Fund Project Performance Evaluation’ conducted on 35 management offices (cities and counties).
This evaluation was conducted based on the appropriateness of project management and excellence in performance for seven fund projects, including resident support by management office, installation and operation of environmental infrastructure, management of water source management areas, restoration of ecological rivers, eco-friendly clean projects, and reduction of non-point source pollution, and the top 10 organizations were selected as excellent organizations.
Yongin Special City was named an excellent organization after receiving favorable evaluations in the fields of ecological river restoration and environmental infrastructure operation.
A total of 21.4 billion won was invested in the ecological river restoration project. The ecological river restoration project was promoted by creating an ecological trail and wetlands in the Daedaecheon area of Cheoin-gu and improving the high-level information, contributing to the improvement of water quality and the ecological environment.
In the environmental infrastructure operation sector, a thorough monitoring system was established by investing 10.4 billion won, and the system received high evaluations for achieving the pollutant reduction target of 103.5%.
Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin Special City said, “We were able to be selected as an excellent organization as a result of our efforts with citizens to save the ecological river,” and added, “We will continue to strive to improve the water quality of the Han River system and achieve development in regulated areas by promoting efficient Han River system management fund projects.”
