The Taekwondo team of Yongin Special City Workplace Sports Team won the trophy for their outstanding performance in an international competition. Cha Ye-eun won two consecutive World Poomsae Championships and was honored with the Best Player award.

Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 15th that it held a trophy presentation ceremony for the Taekwondo team of the workplace sports team at the mayor’s office in the city hall on the 13th.
Yongin City Taekwondo Team’s Cha Ye-eun won the women’s 17+ free Poomsae event at the 2024 World Poomsae Championships held at the Hong Kong Coliseum from November 30 to December 4. Cha Ye-eun won the championship for the second consecutive time in this competition, following 2022, and was selected as the Most Valuable Player (MVP).

The Taekwondo team also showed outstanding skills and achieved results at the KASAD Asia Taekwondo Open Championship held in Indonesia last October. Jung Ji-hoon (-68kg), Seo Jae-ha (-74kg), and Cha Ye-eun (free form) won gold medals, and Park In-ho (+87kg) won bronze medal.
Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin Special City said at the dedication ceremony, “The Taekwondo team has achieved outstanding results in international competitions and raised the status of Yongin Special City,” and encouraged them by saying, “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Coach Nam Yeon-sik and the team for giving their all in training until the end.”
He also urged the athletes competing in the 2024 National Men’s and Women’s Excellent Athletes Competition to be held in Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do from the 19th to the 24th to do their best, saying, “I hope you achieve good results in this competition as well.”
The Yongin Special City Taekwondo Team is scheduled to send five players, including Park In-ho, Lee Dong-ju, Jeong Ji-hun, Seo Jae-ha, and Kim Do-hoon, to compete in the sparring event at this competition.
